The place

The Holiday home is placed in the wonderful country near Siena, on the road that brings from Colle Valdelsa to the medieval village of Monteriggioni . The place is ideal for visiting the most important places between Florence and Siena as San Gimignano, Volterra,Colle Valdelsa and the Chianti area with Tavarnelle, Casole d’Elsa,Castellina ,Greve and Castelnuovo Berardenga.

Siena is at about 20 km.and Florence at 40 km. both reachable through the Firenze-Siena Freeway . The place is quiet and relaxing, with a lot of small villages to discover and lot of opportunities for tasting the very good sienese cooking and its famous chianti wine .

The holiday home

Le Fonti holiday-home consists of a big recently restored farmhouse which is shared in one large apartment at groundfloor(La Stalla apartment) and two small apartments at first floor (La casa del contadino and La casa del fattore ) . Next to the farmhouse is set another independent apartment which was once a hayloft (Il Fienile apartment) .

All the property stands in the middle of a glade surrounded with woods and sunflowers fields creating a special chromatic effect At short distance from the apartments is set a large pool equipped with deckchairs and beach umbrellas .

The apartments La Stalla (The Cow Shed) 6–8 people (120 sq m – ground floor apartment) This apartment comprises the entire ground floor of the converted farmer’s dwelling, what once would have been the manger or cow shed. It benefits from a spacious open-plan living/dining/entertaining area, with French doors opening out onto a grassed “al fresco” dining area. Facing west and with uninterrupted views of the surrounding hillsides, it is a perfect spot to watch the sun dip below the horizon. There are two entrances to this apartment, one on either side of the building. Entering from the west there is a spacious living area with an open fireplace, which can be used to heat the central-heating system in winter instead of using gas. Communicating with this on the left is a fully- equipped kitchen with a wood-burning grill (barbecue) at waist level, and a large dining area. To the right, off the living area, there is a double bedroom, with an ensuite bathroom with bath/shower, toilet and bidet. Entering from the opposite side there is another large living area with a satellite TV and double divan bed. Off to the right, fully accessible by wheelchair, is a twin-bedded room, with an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet, and off to the left is another double bedroom. Between the double bedroom and living area is a bathroom with shower, toilet and bidet. The two living areas are connected by a large open doorway.

La Casa del Contadino (The House of the Farmworkers) 4 people (50 sq m – first floor apartment) This apartment occupies half of the first floor of the converted farmer’s dwelling, and once would have housed the farmworkers and their family. Its outlook is superb, over the typical rolling hillsides and peaceful villages of the region, to the distant forested hills. The entrance is at the top of an external stone staircase into a cosy living/dining area. This comprises a fully-equipped kitchen, sofa and an open fireplace which, when lit during the winter months, will pump out hot air from a vent in the chimney stack for additional warmth to the fire itself. Off this area there are two bedrooms, one double and one twin-bedded, each with an ensuite bathroom with shower, toilet and bidet.

La Casa del Fattore (The Farmer’s House) 4 people (60 sq m – first floor apartment) Occupying half of the first floor of the converted farmer’s dwelling, and once housing the farmer and his family, this apartment benefits from uninterrupted views over the surrounding farmland to the horizon. The entrance is at the top of an external stone staircase into a cosy living/dining area. This comprises a fully-equipped kitchen, sofa and an open fireplace which, when lit during the winter months, will pump out hot air from a vent in the chimney stack for additional warmth to the fire itself. This area has a skylight window for natural light. Off this area there are two bedrooms, one double and one twin-bedded, each with an ensuite bathroom

Il Fienile (The Hay Barn) 4 people (65 sq m – apartment next to owners) with shower, toilet and bidet. Situated in a converted hay barn, separate from the other apartments, this two storey apartment offers privacy and tranquility. On the edge of the property it affords unspoilt views of the surrounding countryside. The entrance is into a large open-plan living/dining area with a fully-equipped kitchen, comfortable seating arrangement and an open fireplace. There is a bathroom with shower and toilet off this area, and stairs to the first floor. Upstairs there is a twin-bedded room, a double room and a bathroom with shower and toilet.
