Location
After crossing ,southward, the Certosa of Florence, the first hill you meet on the right side is called “Colleramole” , a place set in Impruneta village area . Leaving the Cassia street , an ascending road brings up on the hills towards San Casciano and Scandicci villages , between striking landscapes , olive groves and oak woods .
The panoramic road let you see, here and there, some special views as the Certosa Abbey with its stately counterforts and , in the distance, the snowy mountains of Abetone and the city of Florence with the famous dome . Villa Berni is placed almost at the top of the hill ,facing a small pond surrounded with trees and, in the middle of such an inviting country, it seems not possible to be only 5 km.far from the city and 3 km. from the A.1 highway and the freeway to Siena ,two important roads that will be able to bring visitors towards the most famous places of Tuscan region .
Villa Berni has something special which makes it unique : maybe the elegant entrance with a stone floor and ancient “cotto” pitchers ; maybe the small village with its farmhouses standing sideways ; or maybe the striking landscapes you can admire from the windows : and this feeling becomes true getting in the villa and you realize it’s not one of the usual country villas : the frescoes at the walls , the particular layout of the rooms, the details of the architecture and the ancient floors let you understand you are in front of a piece of history : the one of the ancient florentine patrician families once choosing these places for getting out ,in summer,of the oppressive heat of the town and living in a corner of heaven .
And here they transferred their culture and their refined customs however in the simplicity of the country life and maybe what makes it unique is right that : the special and harmonic blending between the folk wisdom and the urban culture, typical of the countryside around Florence . Coming from a backroad you enter, through a gate, a farmyard ,now used as a parking, that brings to a terrace in front of the Villa between age-old cypresses and cedars of Lebanon .
The Villa
Getting in the Villa open a large foyer : on the left open a wide living-room ,on the right the dining-room with next the kitchen . At the first floor ,along a passage with frescoes, there is a double bedroom, a study-single bedroom and one more two single beds bedroom . The Villa has two bathrooms : one at the groundfloor without shower, the second at the first floor, near the bedrooms, with shower and bath-tub . The Villa is about 200 sq.metres and has 6 sleeps + 1 baby bed .
